Chick-fil-a linkI LOVE chick-fil-a! For those of my friends in Michigan, I think there may be just a couple restaurants in the state . . .possibly in Detroit area?? In all of StL we only have 2 restaurants. But you'll HAVE to check it out. Seriously they are "the Nordstroms of fast food." And, kid friendly - YES!
Reasons they are great:
-purell sanitizers everywhere to help prevent germs
-disposable place mats you can put on the table for the kiddos
-free individual containers of cheerios for little tots
-kids meals: never a junky plastic toy- it is always a book, cd, puzzle or something educational; there is ALWAYS a bendy straw in there; and FRESH sliced fruit is included (yes, strawberries, apples etc.)
-every time I am there with the kids (which I guess is every time) they carry my food to the table WITHOUT me even asking, because clearly they can see I have my hands full
-clean, indoor play area for kids (with purell station)
-if you ask for something they always politely respond . . "it would be my pleasure"
-they walk around to see if you need anything - including getting a drink refill for you
-they are closed on Sundays, so their employees can attend church, and if you bring in your church bulletin on Monday you get something free.
OK - so now that you have that background here's what happened to me yesterday. I ordered a meal, they handed me this huge drink. I said, "oh, I didn't order a drink that big, it must be another customer's drink." They apologized and said I was charged for a large and they'd like to refund me the money and of, course I could keep the big drink. ok-fine, end of story, right? Nope, they returned my money with a coupon for a free meal the next time I am there because "they were so sorry they had inconvenienced me!" WOW

Melanie,
That is QUITE an extensive list of reasons to love a fast food restaurant! Your post is funny and I can't wait to share it with Matt and Amy because they LOVELOVELOVE chickfila, eat there all the time, talk about it all the time, and feel pity for me who never gets to eat there.
