{the election}
So, as the election draws near, we were reminded of some important points by our pastor on Sunday. I believe they are worth mentioning. God established three institutions, the family, the government, the church. These are ALL under attack. That statement really needs no further explanation, but as an example, the divorce rate is now at 60%. Satan is clearly at work.
The man who is voted as the next President of the United States WILL be imperfect, as we all are. But, as Christians, we have a responsibility not to base our vote over concern for country - not for peace & prosperity, but for Godliness. Our vote is to be based on the foundation of what God says. So please, PRAY & take Jesus into the voting booth with you. No man can "fix" our country, only God can.
Listen to the wisdom of a founding father, Benjamin Franklin:In the beginning of the contest with Britain when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayers in this room for the Divine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered . . . .And have we now forgotten this powerful Friend? Or do we imagine that we no longer need His assistance? I have lived for a long time (81 years), and the longer I live the more convincing proof I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it possible that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that "Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it." I firmly believe this, and I also believe that without His concurring aid we shall proceed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel.
